Type 1 Hot Inflammatory

The first sub type of cognitive decline, is designated Type1, “Hot.” Type 1, the ‘hot’ inflammatory type can be caused by poor dietary habits, leading to the development of AGE (advanced glycogen end products).  These AGE products are inflammatory in nature and trigger the APP to cause the development of amyloid beta plaque and neuronal damage.  What this means is if you eat processed foods. have a ‘leaky gut’, or consume foods that are inflammatory in nature such as gluten, dairy or foods that you have an allergy to you will increase the inflammation in your brain.  That inflammation will tend to flip the APP switch to the destructive side, causing a breakdown of neurons and the build up of amyloid plaques.

Foods and toxins that cause free radical damage to the brain

Another cause of the ‘hot’ type is infection.  This is a well known trigger for amyloid plaque.  The new information about the infectious stimulant for amyloid production is that the amyloid is secreted in response to infections in the brain and can be seen surrounding the infectious agents on histological exam of deceased patients. The picture below shows amyloid beta in the brain surrounding a biofilm of infection.

The treatment therefore would be to identify the infectious agents and treat them so the infection resolves and the amyloid beta can be removed by the body.
